It all started with a glass of wine every night before my mother and I goes to sleep. But when our family business filed bankruptcy, things get a bit hard for all of us especially to my mother. The wine turned to booze and one glass became one bottle. We tried to stop her but she seemed to find a way to get another bottle, either she will be hiding it in her closet of under her bed. I could not monitor her all the day because I have a full time job. I just tried to keep her away from drinking too hard. Then one day, we made a compromise, she will stop drinking and I will not bring her to an alcohol rehab center. She agreed. But then, when you are in grief, you will certainly find a way to augment the pain.
And without me knowing it, she begun taking painkillers and anti depressant drugs. It was too late when I found out that she was taking stronger drugs like Valium and other drugs bought on subscription by doctors. Then I remembered we had a lady doctor client before when we were still running a business. My mother still establish a connection with that lady doctor. I found her addiction when I did a thorough room cleaning in her room and I found the drugs inside the flower vase. When my mother found out that I discarded the drugs she became hysterical. She was too agitated and shaky that we need to take her to the nearest hospital. When she was in the intensive care unit, that was the time we were made aware that her addiction for drugs already caused too much damage on her liver. She will undergo surgery and after which we will be taking her to a drug rehab center. While she was still in the hospital, I begun searching for the best addiction treatment center in our area. Good thing, finding the right one was easy since there is this site that list down all the drug centers in our area. I found one that has a good addiction treatment program. My mother will soon be well with the help of the drug rehab centers.
